Is it possible to bump a thread that's been at the top for a month?
We just finished our final meeting with Bly at SHFB. While on our walkthrough, she touched on a key point. When us common folk buy food from the grocery store, we are paying the highest dollar amount possible for the food. When the SHFB buys food (because they buy in tons) they are able to purchase the same foods we are, only at a highly discounted rate.
In short, the SHFB is able to purchase three pounds of food for just $1 (feeds a family of four). For the price of a gallon of race gas, the food bank can go out and purchase 20lbs. of food, and still have a couple bucks left over to help pay their PG&E, and to maintain their trucks, forklifts, and refrigeration units. Huge updates coming shortly. Stay tuned!
